RULES

I. General Regulations

  1. Electric bass will be allowed, but no other electric amplification or drums will be permitted in any category.
  2. Contestants performing in the individual performer categories may perform unaccompanied or with one or two accompanists.
  3. All contestants will perform two tunes, more if time allows. The contestants will be judged in the last two tunes only.

II. Restrictions on Performances in Certain Categories

  1. Fiddle contestants: All contestants will be required to play one waltz selection and one tune of choice. (There are no restricted tunes) If either adult 1st place winner doesn’t compete in the Fiddle-Off they forfeit to the 2nd place winner.
  2. Bands must have at least three members and no more than six. No contestant playing with one band will be permitted to play in another. Bands are required to play at least one vocal number. The other tune can be either vocal or instrumental of their choice.
  3. Buckdancing---no holds barred.

III. Judging Criteria

  1. Rhythm and Timing—The judges will look for even, consistent rhythm.
  2. Creativity.
  3. Authenticity and Taste.
  4. Execution—The judges will look for tone quality, clarity, and general command of the instrument(s). Bad tone and muffled notes will result in lost points.

TEAM DANCING RULES

Each team has a possible 100 points.

The team dancing will be NO HOLDS BARRED just like the individual dancing. Each Team should perform for a minimum of 4 minutes with no limit on top. Each Team will be able to pick the tune of choice and will be able to set their own rhythm.

You will receive forty-five (45) points for RHYTHM AND TIMING.

Twenty (20) points for authenticity. (Simply how well and put together your sets are. You will be judged on the completeness of your circles and the straightness of your lines.)

Fifteen (15) points for your COSTUMES.

Twenty (20) points on how well your performance comes across. This will mainly be the way each dancer performs his or her duties.

Each Team will be subject to penalties for Dancers dancing out of Time.
